What are the 24-hours of Montmeló?

The 24-hours of Montmeló is a motorcycle race that is becoming very popular, not only with the fastest but also with those who work as a team. Indeed, it is a team relay race, so that no pilot can circulate more than 2 hours at a time on his bike.

So, the roar of the engines on Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit does not stop even for a minute from the very beginning of the race, which will take place on Saturday, July 8 at 12:00 am. It will end at 12:00 am on Sunday, July 9. During all Friday afternoon and night, the pilots will have the opportunity to realize free practice sessions, timed and by night, that will help them to know the track and the driving conditions at every moment of the day.

At 12:15 am on the Sunday will take place the award ceremony, which rewards the ones who did more laps in the 24 hours of the competition. The participants compete in different categories, according to the characteristics of the bike: Superstock 600, Superstock 1000, EWC and Open Superbikes, with trophies for the top 3 in each category and for other participants according to the age or the collaboration as a team director. But such standards on the bike cubic capacity and measure appart, the organization allows the teams great freedom in aspects such as the tyre, the strategy to follow or the composition of the box staff.

The 24-hours of Montmeló is a very important test for the enduring races lovers, despite it is not the only one of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya season that works the same way. The doors will be open for those who want to approach and attend the test from the steps and the grass of the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit.
